Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-friendly and cookie-free. It tells us what pages are getting read and from roughly where, but it does not track individual readers across sites.
If you choose “Accept analytics”, we also load Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to measure page views, visits, devices and approximate location. Google processes request information, including your IP address, and pseudonymous cookie identifiers. Data may be processed outside the EU. See Google’s privacy policy. Our tag does not enable Google Signals or advertising personalization.
Google Analytics is optional and based on your consent. Before you accept, or if you reject, we do not load its script or send it analytics requests. Use “Analytics settings” at the bottom of any page to change your choice or withdraw consent; withdrawal stops future collection and removes the Google Analytics cookies set by our tag.
Newsletter
If you subscribe, we store your email address with Resend, our email provider. We use it to send the weekly essay and the welcome sequence — nothing else. Unsubscribe at any time from the link at the bottom of every email.
Contact form
When you write through the contact form, your name, email, and message are sent to our inbox via Resend. We use them only to reply.
Cookies
We remember your analytics choice in local storage for up to 180 days. Only after
acceptance may Google Analytics set first-party cookies named _ga and
_ga_…, configured to expire after 180 days without automatic extension.
Rejecting analytics does not limit access to the site. Cloudflare Web Analytics
does not use analytics cookies.
How long we keep things
Your newsletter subscription lasts until you unsubscribe, at which point your address is removed from the active list. Contact-form messages stay in our inbox only as long as we need them to handle your request. Google Analytics event-level data follows the property’s configured retention period; aggregated reports may be retained longer. Withdrawing consent stops future collection but does not automatically erase past data.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to erase it. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter and withdraw analytics consent separately. Contact us about data access, deletion or other privacy questions.
